Written in Stone
Philomena sells prints, tea towels, maps and a detailed and much-loved book on the coast.
Written in Stone is multi-disciplinary; combining nature writing, poetry, sketches and photographs that chart the 135-million year story of the Surf Coast and its geology.
Philomena takes the reader from the ochre cliffs of Torquay, where 25 million-year-old fossils can be found, past the tip of Cape Otway, where Gondwanan rivers have preserved dinosaur bones, and on towards the Twelve Apostles.
This book captures the curiosity and beauty of small moments ... of objects found on walks, collected and treasured.
Melbourne designer Michele Hume’s Artichoke label showcases her individually conceived and handcrafted leather goods. Beginning with a range of purses and handbags, Artichoke Design has continued to evolve, and now includes accessories such as key fobs, brooches and earrings.
Inspiration for her work is always self-renewing because of the textures, colours and variations in the collection of surplus leather she has amassed over the many years, from sources including the auto, footwear, furniture and clothing industries. Michele is currently incorporating new elements into her range such as mark making onto the leather inspired by patterns in nature and architecture. Thank you for supporting my small handcraft business.
Created in 2002 to bring high quality, small-batch loose leaf teas and organic hand–crafted herbals that are beautiful in taste & beneficial in health, to the Greater Geelong, Surf Coast & surrounding areas. Our original healing organic herbals are hand blended, working with a traditional herbalist. These infusions are by far our most popular of all teas. There is an ever-growing demand for caffeine-free health benefiting teas, and we have many delightful blends from which to choose. We also offer many gift boxes and tea accessories to choose from, uniquely hand-packed here in Geelong.
The Bearded Woodworker
The Bearded Woodworker hand crafts beautiful practical items, including cutting boards, knife blocks, spoons/spatulas, cheese knives/slicers, coffee grinders, scoops & tampers, pizza cutters, ice-cream scoops, tongs, rolling pins, napkin holders, coasters, shaving brushes, pictures frames and, my most popular item, a blackwood clothes horse.
I use recycled or scavenged timbers, including Blackwood, Redgum, Victorian Ash, Myrtle, Huon Pine, Jarrah, Mulga, Cypress Pine, Yellow Gum, various wattles, banksias, and fruit woods. Items are finished with different oils, depending on their use, to preserve the timber and bring out the colour. Contact me if you think I could make something for you.
I have been making ceramics for over 30 years and draw upon my background in science and my love of nature to capture in my designs the aspects of my surroundings. I am passionate about protecting the world we are leaving for future generations and so make products that help this goal. I use the natural elements of the earth, clay, water, minerals and fire to create products ranging from travel cups to tableware.

Jo.L designs and products are handmade in Bacchus Marsh in a studio on a former orchard, (once the family business.) Through drawings and ceramic forms, plant and animal life in a three-acre garden surrounding her studio, are recorded in detail. Products for purchase include a blend of high quality prints, utilitarian porcelain shapes decorated with decals and sterling silver and porcelain jewellery. The porcelain pieces are slip cast in moulds that originate from found items and are transformed to reflect the unique qualities inherent in porcelain.

Wayne Reid Photography
My photographic prints, greetings cards, books and exhibitions, offer subject matter that ranges from the political to the philosophical, from the poetic to the whimsical. Although encompassing abstract and fine art, nature and landscape imagery, perhaps my main focus is landscapes, and while my love of the 'grand landscape' is well represented, I also love the 'intimate landscapes' found in close-up and abstract photography. Another interest is the remarkable and subtle beauty that arises when the passage of time and the processes of nature perform their transformation on the works of human hands … think rust and derelictions!
Birds of the Great Ocean Road Book
Margaret lives in Aireys Inlet and has photographed over 120 local birds in their natural habitat. The photographs capture the personality of the birds and are presented beautifully. The text is engaging and accessible and loved by readers of all ages. It is one of the essential books of the Surf Coast and the go-to guide for identifying local birds. There is landscape photography interspersed with bird photos which helps make it a great souvenir or gift for travellers.
